Anesthesiology Associate Residency Program Director Opportunity!

The Department of Anesthesiology at the Memorial Healthcare System started its residency training program in July 2020, and we are seeking a dynamic physician leader for the role of Associate Residency Program Director (APD). The APD will assist the Program Director with all aspects of our community-based residency program and will be eligible to become Program Director in as little as 1-2 years. This role will receive protected nonclinical time as well as a leadership stipend.

The APD will help the Program Director shape the direction and goals of perioperative medical education at the Memorial Healthcare System and within the broader Anesthesiology service line. An Academic appointment will be made available to Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University, and there is potential for appointment at Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine.

Candidates must be ABA board certified in Anesthesiology and have at least two years’ experience as a core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology program. The successful candidate will have leadership experience and academic credentials in either perioperative education or perioperative research (ideally within the last five years). Candidates with recent publication of original research or review articles in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in textbooks, publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at scientific society meetings, or participation in national committees or educations organizations are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualified Candidates will:

• Be clinically active in Anesthesiology
• Be board certified in Anesthesiology
• Be willing to assume role of Program Director in as early as 1-2 years
• Have strong administrative and team-building skills
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Core Faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology training program
• Have leadership experience and academic credentials in either perioperative education or research
• Be willing to combine Administrative and Didactic (teaching) Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

• Shared authority and accountability for all aspects of the Anesthesiology Residency Program, including participation in activities related to graduate medical education, maintenance of ACGME accreditation, resident recruitment, resident competency evaluation, and other responsibilities to ensure programs success
• Continued development of curriculum (including simulation, AI, and Point of Care Ultrasound), and policies for the program
